TMJ / Jaw pain
Many patients suffer from chronic facial pain. Some common symptoms include pain in or around the ear, tenderness of the jaw muscles, clicking or popping noises when opening the mouth, or even headaches and neck aches. We complete a thorough exam of the head and neck to try to identify the source of the problem. Many times the pain is the result of grinding the teeth or clenching the jaws during sleep. The grinding or clenching can be due to stress, sleep disorders, or teeth that are not aligned properly. Treatments for this pain may include stress reducing exercises, equilibration, aligning the teeth, or wearing a protective teeth splint at night.
